The Senior Manager, Internal Communications is an integral role on the Corporate Communications team working collaboratively with leaders and partners across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications and working within a team environment, this role will lead and manage internal communication strategies that foster employee engagement, align with organizational goals and provide consistent and seamless communication to our Sinai Health community.

Location: Hybrid (a minimum of 3 days in office) > Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital (primary); Travel required between campuses

About The Team
The Corporate Communications team contributes to the overall success of Sinai Health by building and sustaining the organization’s reputation through effective communication and engagement with diverse stakeholder groups. Our team collaborates extensively across all departments to embed best-in-class communication practices into every facet of Sinai Health’s operations.

In this role you will:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to effectively communicate organizational strategy, goals and key priorities through innovative and creative communication strategies to engage internal stakeholders
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on internal communications needs to support change or manage potential issues. This includes the development of materials for leaders to help effectively communicate change clearly and transparently, to minimize disruption and reputational risk
  • Develop, implement and oversee strategies to guide key internal communication channels including intranet, newsletters, email, video updates, and employee town halls, ensuring consistent messaging across platforms. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with Sinai Health’s People and Culture portfolio to consult on employee engagement initiatives and develop programs and campaigns to promote employee sense of belonging, recognition and a positive workplace culture
  • Lead a team of internal communication and creative services professionals, blending strategic leadership with guidance on internal communication strategies, storytelling, design vision, and production of branded materials
  • Provide coaching and leadership to drive excellence, both with direct reports and the broader team
  • Support issues management as needed. Contribute to the development and dissemination of timely messaging to internal audiences during times of organizational change, external events, or internal crises
  • Support the Corporate Communications team as needed with media relations including communications on-call rotation
  • Be a champion of the Sinai Health brand in ensuring all communication products are aligned with the brand and strategic priorities
Job Requirements:
Mandatory
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program (Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or Post-Graduate Certificate) from an accredited educational institution in a related field of study (Journalism, Public Relations or similar)
  • Minimum 7 (seven) years of experience in a communications role servicing multiple portfolios
  • Minimum 3 (three) years of experience in a direct managerial role
Preferred
  • Previous experience in a health care, government or academic environment is considered an asset
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience in managing teams with the ability to motivate, engage and support team members in delivering peak performance
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to create compelling stories and visuals, and experience in translating complex concepts into plain language.
  • Highly-developed critical thinking and analytical skills, strategic planning research and project management experience
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, planning and project-management ability
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to manage multiple, and often competing priorities and work, delivering against tight deadlines with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment that has a wide range of objectives, issues, stakeholder and operational factors
  • A responsible self-starter who has sound judgement, tact and diplomacy along with an outgoing attitude
